Canvas Grading Assistant · Built for Class classroom pilot
Free, and built by a teacher for teachers.

Installed an earlier pilot copy? Remove the earlier Canvas Grading Assistant on
chrome://extensions before loading this one. This copy installs as a new
extension, so enter your API key and settings again; drafts and history saved by
the earlier copy do not carry over.

1. Extract canvas-grading-assistant-pilot.zip. Keep the resulting
   canvas-grading-assistant folder on your computer.
2. Open Google Chrome and enter chrome://extensions in the address bar.
3. Turn on Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, then select the
canvas-grading-assistant folder that contains manifest.json. Pin Canvas Grading Assistant from Chrome's extensions menu.
4. Open Canvas Grading Assistant settings and enter your own Anthropic API key. Your key is stored
locally in Chrome. API use is billed to your Anthropic account.
5. Open your school's Canvas SpeedGrader on a *.instructure.com domain. Select
the correct submission, generate feedback, and review it before applying.

Canvas Grading Assistant drafts grades and feedback. A teacher must review the results and
choose whether to apply them to Canvas. It sends the submission text you ask
it to grade to Anthropic. Follow your school's policy for student data and AI.

This pilot ZIP is not a Chrome Web Store installation. A managed browser may
block unpacked extensions; ask your school IT administrator if loading fails.
Canvas sites with a custom domain are not supported by this build. Classic
Quizzes and assignment workflows have automated coverage; live Canvas and
managed school devices still need a teacher's check before classroom use.
